Managing Digital Eye Strain

It is important to take regular breaks when using digital devices to give your eye muscles a chance to relax. Make sure you are regularly putting your device down and taking a break from your screen. The Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends following the 20-20-20 rule: every twenty minutes, take a twenty-second break from your screen and shift your gaze to an object that is at least twenty feet away.

Office ergonomics involves optimizing your workspace to help reduce or prevent the symptoms of digital eye strain.

Making some adjustments to your workspace can go a long way: make sure that your screen is an arm’s length away and at slightly below eye level. Adjust your chair height so you avoid hunching and dim your screen brightness.

High-energy blue light waves that are emitted by digital screens are hard on our eyes and can make focusing a challenge. The debate on blue light continues, but it may be linked with issues like insomnia in children and digital eye strain.

Blue-light glasses and specialty lenses can decrease your exposure to blue light, which may, in turn, relieve your symptoms. Ask our friendly team about the options available to you.

If you’re looking for a pair of glasses that will help mitigate your digital eye strain issues, look no further than Essilor Eyezen Blue Light Lenses. These incredible single vision lenses can help mitigate issues caused by blue light, including eye strain!

We offer these lenses and can match them to your specific needs so you can achieve comfortable vision wherever you need it.

Visit us, book your appointment, or check out our Lenses page for more information about specialty lenses.
